Identifying Innovation index

Problem:

Management declares that the company needs innovative solutions. Working groups are created and instructions are issued on the development of innovations. KPIs are approved. Training courses are conducted on how enhance creativity.
For some reason, however, they do not lead to innovations.

Solutions:

Innovations do not occur of their own accord. Innovative ideas are devised and implemented by people whom we call innovators.
Can each of us be an innovator? Clearly that is not possible: 80% of people are incapable of being innovators. And unfortunately this cannot be rectified through any creativity training courses.
Can anyone manage a group of innovators? Clearly, not. Here, we need special types of managers whom we call “Innovation Leaders”.

As a result of many years of research and analysis of the success factors of individuals implementing innovative solutions, Detech has developed an assessment tool with high innovation potential, called the innovator index or the leader innovation index.

When assessing the innovator index, we identify combinations of personality attributes which are required in order to:

  • Look for and find new out-of-the-box solutions, go beyond their comfort zone.
  • Assess the viability of new ideas.
  • Implement innovations, taking no heed of the scepticism, criticism and mockery of other people.
  • Continue working and refuse to give up when it does not prove possible to create the new product immediately (Edison tried out 10,000 designs of a light bulb until he found the most successful option).

When assessing the leader innovation index, we determine the combinations of personality attributes that are required in order to:

  • Hear and adopt new ideas transcending standard stereotypes.
  • Highlight and promote the most promising ideas.
  • Proactively promote and advocate new ideas, inter alia, at the highest levels, without feeling daunted by rank or title.
  • Establish teams and workforces and assign them to create innovative products and solutions.
  • Support creative people, create a positive psychological atmosphere.

As a result, the client receives an accurate picture of the innovation potential of its organisation, broken down into different segments – by business units, divisions, and even by specific management executives and employees.
This makes it possible to identify, promote and support individuals actually capable of creating and implementing innovations.

Analysis of the assessment results makes it possible to benchmark them, assessing the level of innovation potential of the organisation compared to the market in general and representatives of different sectors.

Application of these indices at the selection stage or at the stage of work with an external talent pool, schoolchildren, students and young specialists, makes it possible to establish purposefully the talent pool of the company and attract people with the highest innovation potential.
